Watchmen by Moore and Gibbons

watchmen-cover_thumb I hate to say it, but I didn’t read this book until the movie was announced. Elliott lent it to me with his jaw on the floor, and I hate to say, but it sat on my shelf for more than a month before I started it. What was I thinking? I could have read it twice by now :).

This graphic novel was ranked in Time Magazine’s top 100 novels of all time, and deservedly so. This is an excellent story about saving humanity from itself, and a rag-tag bunch of ex-heros. It’s much more down to earth than any “super hero” story I’ve ever read, and I actually found it quite believable.

Summary: If you have not read this novel, do not go see the movie first. I lost myself in the book and often forgot it was a comic. The story is as rich as many books in my top 10.

I don’t think I can pick it up and read it by next friday. I’m going to have to ignore your recommendation.
